Just seen the MixtMeat blog a found that Ric has had a bad day! He’s off traveling next week (hence I’m doing this post) and this was his last session. Disaster stall on the volcano ending in a two piece Charge Plug. Gutted for you man. Pics from Trev’s Flickr. /A
I’ve been in Brizzle for 6ish weeks now and I’m starting to take on a few of the hills. I’ve dropped my gear to a 42/16 which has made the blast up Park Street and Whiteladies a little easier. However, after getting to the top of the downs last night I bumped into Ed on his beautiful Bob Jackson and tagged along for an extra 12 miles around Horfield, Northville, Filton, Southmead and Westbury On Trym from which I have drawn two conclusions. 1/ I have discovered a need for a fast bike. 2/ I should probably eat more before going on longer rides. Needless to say I took my burning legs to the excellent Magnet Fish Bar for a well deserved supper safe in the knowledge that I need to put some more miles in. /A
Sam is from Canada. He’s visiting Bristol for a month and with him he brought his bike and rather pretty Bronica Sq-ai. 50mm 3.5 camera. He’s only a young’un, but has already got a really good handle on his camera and is getting some tasty results. Here’s a few shots he got of me and Roly riding the other night. More after the jump and check out Sam’s Flickr page here. /A
Just spotted these tyres from the future over at our good friends Gnative. They use LED’s embedded into the tyre wall and are powered through motion sensors. For me it seems like a lot of delicate parts in a component that takes a load of abuse, but they do look pretty pimped! They are pitching them at “trend setting BMX riders and fashionable mountain bike enthusiasts” which says a lot. Whadda ya reckon? /A
Available from Elphicks on Columbia Road, London. That is all. /R
Everyone loves an Apple Rumor, right!? Well if this turns out to be true it will be super cool. These patents show that Apple is researching methods to turn iPhone into a feature-rich bike computer, kinda like the Nike+ hook up they have going on at the moment for runners. Let’s wait and see…. Thanks to Shane for the heads-up. /A
It’s Cyclescreen at Bristol’s Watershed this weekend. They are showing great films like Joe Kid On A Stingray and if that’s not enough you can puke your lungs up with a spot of Rollapaluza action afterwards! Sign up here. /A
Sydney’s Powerhouse Museum have made the Colnago C35 their Object Of The Week along with a nice bit of history about the frame. Very nice indeed. Cheers to Dai for the heads up. /A
As well as being the main man behind the 14BikeCo. blog Mikey also has a place where he puts all his photography. I spotted these aerial shots of a few of us riding in Elephant and Castle on his dice&dice blog, which is well worth a look. /R
It wasn’t really the weather for bar spins and half cabs and I really wanted to go for a ride. So I got the fast bike out (put the seat up) and went for an explore. The A38 took my fancy and ended up at Bristol Airport. There was a sign for Chew Magna on the way back and remembering that my good mate Benno was from these parts a detour was in order. Nice part of the world indeed. /A
